| DPS Nagbani organizes Inter-House Salad making competition | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 16: An Inter-House salad making competition was held at Delhi Public School Nagbani, Jammu-(West) in which all the students of classes II-VIII participated enthusiastically. The purpose of the competition was to inculcate healthy food habits and awareness regarding the choice of food among the students.
Students from four houses namely Ganga, Jhelum, Chenab and Tawi participated in the competition using commonly available fruits and vegetables. The participants of each House explained the specialty of their salad and also the importance of including salad in our regular diet for maintaining good health and keeping the diseases away.
The main focus of the competition was not only to prepare salad but also its benefits in day today’s life. Equal emphasis was upon the hygienic considerations which were to be kept in view while preparing and dressing the final product. The participants creativity was revealed through the beautiful designs and patterns formed with different mouth watering salads.
The Principal of the school RK Verma exhorted upon the students to make salad eating a routine habit for enabling them to maintain a healthy body because most of the weight gain today is only due to unhealthy eating habits. These lead to imbalanced nutrition, disturb metabolism and accumulation of fats and the biggest problem is eating junk foods or skipping meals due to lack of time. |
