After a decade, 'influential' SHO shown door | | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Dec 16: Prompted by sustained public campaign against an "influential" SHO, who was enjoying plum postings for over a decade, despite his alleged tainted service record, the Jammu police has finally shown him the door. The development follows CM's cognizance of an ET report in this regard. The SHO, who was heading a police station here, has been transferred to SOG Jammu. During his tenure here the crime incidents had witnessed rise, while people often accused him of framing them in fake cases for money. In one such incident, he had denied to file a rape case as desired by the victim and ended up asking the accused to marry her. Despite enjoying patronage of some ministers, the SHO couldn't finally save himself from getting "attached in a cell." In brazen violation of the orders issued by the Director General of Police, by virtue of which police official cannot be kept as SHO for more than four years and needs to be shifted in other wings, he had been enjoying plum postings in Jammu province since 2007. He had been SHO for Jammu, Ramban, Batote, Samba and Nowshera police stations. Meanwhile the residents of the area here where he was posted have heaved a sigh of relief and appreciated police top brass for the decision. They hoped that the new SHO will work for welfare of the people and get rid of growing crime. The residents hailed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and DGP and IGP Jammu for the decision. |
