Govt sleeps as MA Stadium ails | | | Shiv Dev Thakur Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 16: Despite the tall claims of the government and concerned department to provide new infrastructure for developing the sports infrastructure of the state, the M A stadium in the heart of the city of the temples is craving for attention. Stake holders in sharp contrast while pointing towards the worst condition of the stadia in Jammu as lack of foresight on part of the Council administration said that the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports council is having a lackasidal approach in the maintenance of the grounds/stadia in Jammu Province as the major grounds of the province are short of ground in charges. Sources said that there is a total number of nine ground in charges for 11 major grounds of Jammu including MA Stadium and Science college out of which KK Hakku as well as Indoor stadium (MA Stadium) have 2 ground in charge, Mini stadium Parade, Shastri Nagar Ground, Football Ground Parade and Green Belt have 1 ground in charge each while 1 ground in charge is seen with Engineering wing but there is no ground in charge for two major Stadia of Jammu like M A Stadium and GGM Science college ground. When contacted by Early Times, Shiv Kumar Sharma,Joint Secretary JKSSC, admitting the lack of Ground in charge said, " It is absolute true that the stadium is short of Ground in charge as few of the ground men were promoted in earlier time, but still they haven't attained the charge as the matter is subjudiced". He directed to contact Ashok Singh, Manager M A Stadium for more details. The great quirk of fate is that Rajan Sharma, Sports Officer JKSSC when asked about the shortage of the ground in charge contradicted the statement of Joint Secretary claiming some Mohd. Iqbal as Ground in charge as well as supervisor of the M A Stadium. Moreover, he added that there are two person looking after the Science college ground, so there is no ground in charge for the same. While Ashok Singh, Manager M A Stadium also stated same story thereby admitting the shortage of the ground in charge being the reason for the condition of the Grounds. |
