Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 16: Challenging the sincerity of Health Department of implementing objectives of Janani Shishu Suraksha Yojna, a pregnant lady admitted in Jammu hospital was reportedly asked to purchase medicine from the open market. According to sources in Health Department, a pregnant lady namely Manisha wife of Yashpal, a resident of Talab Tillo was admitted at Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital on November 10. "My wife was admitted in the hospital on November 10, wherein doctors administered a vaccine, which caused complicacy to the patient and due to delay in ultra sound there was excessive bleeding due to which she underwent sudden shock," said sources, adding that on the next day the doctors operated her and she gave birth to a baby. "Due to sudden shock the patient was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) for treatment, where she was put on ventilator," said sources, adding that in the meantime on November 13, her baby also died. While the patient was fighting with death, the burden of medicine keeps in haunting them. "The patient falls under the category to obtain benefits of Janani Shishu Suraksha Yojna, but due to apathetic approach of the concerned authorities, she was denied the same and was asked to purchase medicine from the open market," sources said, adding that till date the family has spent over Rs 1 lakh on medicines. |
