How PDD misleads CM's office | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 16: Days after Early Times carried a detailed report about how babus are making CM's grievance cell a flop show, the Power Development Department (PDD) finally woke up and replied to the grievance. However, this time again, it has tried to mislead the CM's office. On November 13, locals of a Srinagar area had submitted a complaint about erratic power supply before the CM's grievance portal. Though the complaint was forwarded to the PDD for necessary action, it kept the issue in limbo, deeming it unnecessary to reply to CM's grievance cell. The issue remained pending till December 13, and after Early Times carried a report over such dilatory approach, the PDD sent its reply. However, the answer given to CM's office by the PDD is erroneous as the department while playing with the words has tried to put the issue under the carpet. Locals of the area who made the compliant accuse that besides taking people for a ride, the babus in the state have started keeping the CM in the dark. Documents in possession of the Early Times reveal that against the compliant bearing number 62860, the Executive Engineer Electric Division IVth, Srinagar vide his communication No. ED.IV.4314.15 dated 10.12.2016 stated that power supply being fed from the receiving station Lal bazaar is strictly as per the curtailment schedule issued by the department. Interestingly, the department while trying to dodge the issue hasn't come clear about what curtailment schedule it is talking about. Last week, PDD issued two curtailment schedules for the Kashmir Valley. One was for the non- metered areas while the other one was for the metered ones. While replying to the compliant, the PDD's executive engineer hasn't mentioned in what category of the curtailment schedule the area falls. "We had stated in our complaint that our area comes under the metered category however supplies given to us are erratic and from non- metered feeder. In the answer, PDD has kept the CM in dark about in what category our area falls," says Mukhtar Ahmad, a local. Furthermore, the PDD played against the Centrally Sponsored RAPDRP Scheme. As the PDD has kept the project in limbo and has missed several deadlines, it again has stated that they will cover the area under RAPDRP. "When have we objected to the RAPDRP scheme but the mater in question was about the present situation. The PDD has replied in the future tense," says Aamir Syed, a student who resides in the area which had approached the CM. Icing on the cake was how PDD generalised the entire issue and passed the buck on four months of unrest in Kashmir. The Executive Engineer in its reply has said: "It is pertinent to mention here that due to the prevailing situation of the last few months, most of the system constraints which hamper the smooth power supply in general could not be rectified which has affected the efficient load management on grid stations, receiving stations and allied network of the department. The work on these system constraints is going on and efforts are being made to provide smooth power supply to the consumers." Such weird reply given by the PDD besides belittling the efforts of the government in ensuring better power supplies in the state has revealed how babus are hell-bent to misinform the highest office of the state dispensation. |
