Jammu, Dec 16: A Two days' workshop on Quality Assurance, Kayakalp and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was organized by National Health Mission, J&K at Convention Centre, Jammu. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. M.K. Bhandari, Commissioner/Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department in the presence of Dr. Mohan Singh, Mission Director, National Health Mission, J&K and others. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. M.K. Bhandari focused on the importance of quality in public health care facilities and impressed upon all the participants for improvement of quality of these health care facilities. Regular assessment of health care facilities by its own staff and 'action planning' for traversing the observed gaps is the only way in having a vibrant quality assurance programme in Public Health facilities. He emphasized that quality is a journey and not a destination; it is a way how we acquaint ourselves, how we treat those whom we stand for, we all are service providers and the best is expected from us. He also stressed upon to follow the protocols and processes in letter and spirit for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene at public health care facilities which will also complement these facilities to attain National Quality Standards. Dr. Mohan Singh said that the aim of NHM is to provide equitable, accessible, affordable and quality health care services for all. He made a brief presentation on "Improving Quality" at health care facilities and stressed upon community action, financial protection, facility preparedness, human resource, SOPs, logistics management and accountability to achieve the benchmarks of quality. He added that Quality Assurance (QA) is cyclical process which needs to be continuously monitored against defined standards and measurable elements. He thanked NHSRC consultants for their support and for making this workshop a learning process in-stead of mere training workshop. Dr. Baldev Raj Sharma, Director Family Welfare, MCH & Immunization, J&K in his address stressed that quality is the core and most important aspect of services being rendered at any health care facility. |
