Triyath-Pingagala residents up in arms against PWD authorities

Rajouri, Dec 16: Alleging that the Public Works Department (PWD) has abandoned the work on the link road between Triyath and Pingagala, the residents of the area criticized the authorities for their callous attitude and alleged that the work on 10 kilometer road stretch Triyath-Pingagala was started some five years ago but the road yet has not seen the dawn.
"The work on cutting, widening, construction of retaining walls, carpeting was completed by the contractor and even two kilometer road was also black topped but the work was abandoned about two years ago the reasons best known to the department or to the contractor" said agitated locals Suresh Kumar and Ashwani.
Other locals also added that after the department abandoned the work some two years ago none cared for this road and in absence of the maintenance even the black topped portion too got damaged due to heavy rains and in the absence of due care/ maintenance.
People alleged that the carpeting on the remaining eight kilometer portion too got damaged during last two years and the road full of troughs and crests thus puts people to face a lot of the difficulties as the last eight (8) kms is in very bad shape causing lot of inconvenience to the people of these areas.
He added the worst sufferers are the employees, students and patients as the transporters have reduced the frequency of their vehicles apprehending damages to their vehicles on this bumpy and potholed road.
Rakesh Kumar and other locals have urged the senior officers of the PWD(R&B) department to take necessary measures to re-start the abandoned work on this road without any further delay.
They warned the officials failing so the villagers will come to the roads to impress their long pending demand.
Despite several attempts, Tilak Raj , Assitant Executive Engineer (AEE), PWD(R&B), Kalakot could not be contacted to get his comment over the update status of the Triyath-Pingagala Road which allegedly was abandoned by the department.
