KPs unanimously reject formation of self styled Temples Board | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 16: Kashmiri Pandits today warned the community against the disruptive forces bent upon fragmenting the unity of the community specially with respect of shrines and temple bill. In a meeting organised by Pandit Prem Nath Bhat memorial Trust in which almost all the temple committees from length and breadth of the valley participated unanimously rejected the board created by some self styled elements and asked them to desist from such activities as it will have serious repercussions. The meeting decided that this years chetna divas has been turned into a protest day to warn such forces who are trying to create a wedge in the community on the name of shrines board. During the meeting the community passed a unanimous resolution that entire community is behind the trust in its struggle for passage of shrines bill and urged the Govt to pass the bill in the winter session of state legislature beginning from January 2. The resolution reiterated that it should continue with the peaceful struggle for having a law duly passed by state legislature which envisages a democratic accountable and transparent management of the temples, shrines and other religious places of Hindus in Kashmir province. It also reiterated that its resolution passed on 14th April, 2011 where under it has designated the Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust ( PNBMT) as a Nodal Agency to organise , manage and lead a peaceful campaign for having such a law in place. Community further appreciated the work done by the PNBMT in this direction, so far and asks the Trust to continue with the struggle for the enactment of the law on the lines of bill no 11/2009 introduced in the previous Assembly, along with such modifications/ amendments as are deemed appropriate and commits itself to render such help and support to the PNBMT as is required to have the desired law. It also rejected the concept of a non statutory board for the management of its religious places spread across the Kashmir Province. The community feels that any move initiated for this purpose by any member of the Kashmiri Hindu Community, would amount to the dilution of its intent and purpose of having the law and considers it an unpleasant development fraught with the danger of fragmenting the Kashmiri Hindu Society.' |
