Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 18: The All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations under the stewardship of its President R.K. Kalsotra held a press conference today. He was flanked by the Vice Presidents, Gen. Secys., representatives of Districts and Tehsils, leaders of SC/ST/OBC communities and other office bearers wherein great resentment was noticeable due to the apathy of the government in consideration of the memorandum submitted by the Confederation on 7th of Nov. 2016 with the demands extending restoration of reservation in promotions, clearing backlog of vacancies through special recruitment drives for 23,000 Scheduled caste posts, 16,000 scheduled tribe posts and 5,000 OBC/SEBC, Waiver of admission fees for students belonging to eligible SC/ST/OBC and poor students, Implementation of 27% reservation for OBC's and enhancement of income slab for the OBC's at par with that at the centre for creamy layer, State budgetary allocation for special component plan for SC's and ST's and adequate utilization thereof alongwith provisions for accountability as well as for stopping diversion thereof for general purposes, Providing shelter homes to the nomads, the poor and deprived, Providing equal opportunities to SC/ST/OBC's in the matter of posting/transfers, Political reservation to Scheduled Tribes, Devising mechanism for redressal of atrocities upon SC/ST/OBC's and extension of jurisdiction of National Commission for SC and ST's to the J&K State. |
