Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 18: Men and officers of Security forces are confronted with daunting challenge while fighting terrorism in the state of Jammu and Kashmir wherein they continuously risk their lives; yet, they are meted out shoddy and inhuman treatment and deprived of most basic amenities. Stationed at Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) which is considered as extremely sensitive section of Home department, three companies comprising three personals of Indian Reserve Police (IRP) have been experiencing tough times in absence of basic facilities like bathroom and latrine. "We are being treated like dumb driven cattle. Why should we face this discrimination, we came here to tackle militancy and not to be disgraced," Satvir Singh (name changed) an IRP personnel told 'Early Times'. He claimed that security personal numbering three hundred stationed at FSL are using single latrine and bathroom which has exposed them to serious ailments. Singh further alleged that when they brought the issue into the notice of Inspector General (IRP), he instead of resolving the issue with utmost priority said "you people have adequate facilities here, go and see your counterparts in Bihar who are facing even worst conditions there" "Does that mean they are playing with our lives, when we die in encounter they come and take pictures at our funerals but when it comes to our issues they issue dictates to us from their cozy air conditioned rooms," added Singh who could not control his emotions and broke down. The security personals dared to challenge their higher-ups to experience what they have been experiencing ever since they were posted in Kashmir. "There is no space for us to sleep, we use to keep our belongings including clothes with us even while performing duties, it is an irony that 300 personals are using single latrine and bathroom, sometime we manage to control natures call as we cannot afford to be late on duties, but the government should seriously wake up from the slumbers," said Prakash anther IRP personal. The agitated security personals expressed apprehensions to be involved in serious disease in case the authorities do not think over their plight. "Government and our seniors really failed us, we thought that there is great respect for us but it is sad that we are being treated as animals in our own country," said Prakash. |
