'I will instead leave politics and prefer to stay at home': Mehbooba
Implementing agenda of alliance

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 18: The PDP-BJP alliance is passing through a very critical phase. It is difficult to predict which way the coalition would ultimately go. Will it survive or will it not" is the issue which has attracted the attention of the discerning and political observers in the state and outside Jammu & Kashmir.
It was not just that a few statements were made by some BJP leaders at the state and the national level which suggested that there were issues between the PDP and the BJP over which they were vertically divided, notwithstanding their assertions that "differences between them, if any, will be sorted out amicably" and that the "coalition was functioning well".
However, it was Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti herself who on Saturday opened up and gave everyone to understand that she was not for power but for the implementation of the 2015 PDP-BJP agenda of alliance and that she would quit the office if she found that things were not moving in the desired direction. She asserted that the alliance with the BJP was based on the possibility that Kashmir would be resolved and if that didn't happen, then the things could take a new twist.
"She is convinced that her party's alliance with the BJP was 'full of possibilities to get Kashmir out of this turmoil with honour and dignity for our people'. The day I feel that I have failed in this purpose, I will not take even a second to give up…I will instead leave politics and prefer to stay at home,'' she was quoted as saying.
Regarding the non-implementation of the agenda of alliance, the Chief Minister said that her government was committed to implementing it but the five-month-long turmoil in the Valley took its toll and hampered the efforts of her government. "The protests over 'five six months have taken us back on many things. We stand for each and every word that is in our Agenda for Alliance," she reportedly said.
There was no confusion in what the Chief Minister said. Each and every word that she chose to utter were as meaningful as they were self-explanatory. She left none in any doubt that agenda of alliance was sacred to the PDP and that she could even take an extreme step of quitting not just the government but politics itself if the BJP put any hurdle in the way of implementation of the agenda of alliance.
