| MGNREGA: 100% in records, nothing on ground | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, Dec 18: Former central government has announced a scheme for the welfare and employment of unemployed youth of the nation by the name of father of nation Mahatma Gandhi. This scheme is known as Mahatma Gandhi National Rozgar Employment Guarantee Act ( MGNREGA) all over India.
This act is baseless in Poonch district due to the negligence of officials of the department. According to the report from many areas of Poonch district, most of the poor informed Early Times that the JE Panchayat Secretary, GRSs and local level elected politicians are taking bribe by the locals which the common and poor people are capable to pay commission to the officials which are always ignored by the department.
Locals from many rural area of Mandi, Poonch, Mendhar and Surankote said, while they approached to higher authorities of the department in this regard they conduct inquiry of the matter through BDOs, JEs, Secretaries and GRSs, who report before authorities in their favour as they are already involved in the scams.
People are shocked over such attitude of authorities and said, officers are deploying thieves to trace the boned. Treasurer of social organization Jammu and Kashmir Insaaf Movement Sahim Jafar in this regard said locals of many rural areas met him and informed that while they confirm from offices about works, officials try to harass them by showing hundred percent works through the scheme while nothing is found on ground.
He appealed to chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to intervene the matter and direct concern authorities to investigate the matter. |
