MS Nazki Early Times Report
Poonch, Dec 18: A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team, headed by higher rank officers, paid a surprise visit to Trade Felicitation Centre (TFC) at Chakkan-da-Bagh here today and seized the entire record, including computers. Official sources alleged that TFC had extended benefits to some traders who had grown rich within no time. TFC had come into being in 2008 to strengthen business relations across the border. Till October 31, 2016, different items weighing 2,72,95,019 quintals worth Rs 659 cr had been sent to other side of border in 27,007 trucks while 1,47,51,935 quintals of items worth Rs 114 cr were received in 17,482 trucks from other side of the border, sources informed. Sources said there were 303 registered traders from this side who 'trade with 259 traders of other side'. "There are no CCTV cameras at TFC which is considered as a big security lapse. The actual weight is not being mentioned as the full body scanner at TFC is defunct," sources alleged. The Chakan-da-Bagh trade point is very sensitive and the authorities concerned have to be very vigilant to that miscreants don't take benefit of the lowering of guard. When contacted, Poonch DC M H Malik confirmed that NIA team on a tip off paid a visit to TFC and seized the entire record. Investigation was on when last reports came in. |
