7th pay comm: Crisis knock JK Govt again | Regularisation of daily wagers ignored | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 24: The J&K government has forgotten the regularisation of around 60 thousand daily wagers in the state at a time when it is discussing implementation of the 7th pay commission in the state. As the regular employees are waiting to get their salaries hiked after the implementation of the 7th pay commission, there seems no light at the end of the tunnel for the daily wagers in the state who have to remain contended with meagre wages of Rs 6,000 a month. As per the insiders, the government seems little interested in regularising the services of the daily wagers who were promised the same earlier in December last year. The finance minister earlier had stated that soon after the January's budget session would get over, the regularisation process will begin and the land owners followed by the ITI degree holders will get regularised in the government service. However over month has passed since the budget session in the state got over and there is not even a single hint by the government for regularising the services of the daily rated employees in Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile on Saturday, Minister for Finance and Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari reviewed the implementation of 7thPay Commission recommendations for the state government employees and pensioners as per the announcement made earlier in the budget session. During the meeting, a threadbare discussion was held for issuance of relevant SRO regarding implementation of 7th pay commission recommendations. Minister was informed that arrangements are being made for implementing the 7th Pay Commission for state government employees and pensioners in the state. The Minister directed the concerned officers to make it effective in the next month as per the commitment made by the Jammu and Kashmir government in budget 2018-19. "We will fulfil the promises made by the government with employees and pensioners, we are going to issue the relevant SRO for implementation of 7th Pay commission in the next month," he added. The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary Finance, Navin Kumar Choudhary, and other senior officers of the Finance Department. During the entire meet, as per the insiders, the issues related to the regularisation of the daily wagers in the state didn't figure out for a single time, hinting the government is determined to pro-long the process and same is not in its agenda for now. However, the daily wagers in the state are in tizzy wondering what has kept in store for them as the government has turned its face away from them in a bizarre way. "First they raised our hopes and assured that the process will begin in February. March is about to pass but there is no news about whether we have to wait or the promises would get fulfilled in very near future," says a daily wager working in one of the government departments here. |
