JAMMU, Feb 29: Principal Sessions Judge Ramban Kishore Kumar rejected the bail application of one Abid Ahmed Sofi R/O Khanabal, Anantnag from whose possession police recovered 70 kilograms of poppy straw and registered case under NDPS Act. Principal Sessions Judge Ramban after hearing both the sides observed that no one can be allowed to play with the lives of others who have committed no crime. There is every possibility of repeating the same offence by the accused. So far as liberty of a person is concerned, in this regard, the liberty of a person is not more important that the safety of innocent young generation, the future of the nation. Keeping in view the enactment of the NDPS Act is to curb the ever increasing menace of drug peddling and illegal possession, sale and its ramification on the society and the youth in particular and cause for increase in the crime rate, nature and seriousness of accusation against the applicant, the character of evidence, circumstances which are peculiar to the accused, the larger interest of the society and State, Court found that no good ground is made out by the petitioner for enlarging him on bail and rejected the same. |
