Formulate new Tourism policy for J&K: Ashok Sharma | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 27: To boost economy and improve quality of life of the people, formulation of new tourism policy with regard to religious pilgrim and leisure tourism bringing potential spots of J&K on national and world tourism map is of imperative necessity said, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Vichar Vibhag National Coordinator, and former law maker Ashok Sharma, on the occasion of "World Tourism Day" in a press statement issued here today. Sharma, urged upon the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to declare J&K as Ecologically Fragile cum Herbal State. And also Katra as World Pilgrimages Centre, Jammu and Srinagar as World Heritage Townships for speedy socio-economic and infrastructural development of all the 20 districts of this downgraded State of Jammu and Kashmir. The AICC Coordinator further pleaded the urgency to tap optimum hydro power potential to generate power ensuring its sufficient availability to meet the world class facilities to the tourists as well as pilgrims. Diverting over one crore annually Shri Mata Vashno Devi Yatries to other potential places including virgin lakes and meadows will give immediate economic boost and employment opportunities to the locals and strengthen National Integration as well, added the senior Congress leader and former Chief Whip of J&K Congress Legislature Party. |
