Early Times Report

Srinagar, Dec 5: After cracking its whip on separatists, security agencies are assessing what led to activists of mainstream parties take part in anti-India protests and act as orchestrators.
Sources told Early Times that intelligence agencies have pointed out that leaders of a few mainstream parties left no stone unturned to prolong the ongoing unrest in Kashmir. "There are reports about a few people providing monetary support to separatists for intensifying the protests in Kashmir," sources claimed. A source said, "Investigations are on and these are just initial findings. No action can be taken until their involvement is established."
A Kashmir watcher said, "Since the day situation has started improving in Kashmir NC patron Dr Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah have been issuing provocative statements."
Referring to Dr Farooq Abdullah offering support to united Hurriyat leadership, the Kashmir watcher said, "It's an ample proof about the fact that NC is toeing the line of Pakistan and separatists and is openly challenging JK's accession with India."
It's in place to mention here that Dr Farooq Abdullah while addressing party workers at the mausoleum of his father late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on his 111st birth anniversary in Srinagar said, "We are with you (Hurriyat) not against you and we have given our entire lives for this movement. Be united, move ahead and take this movement forward and we are with you. We'll never be free until we are united and I am telling NC workers not to stay away from this movement."
An analyst said, "NC leaders are openly talking about Pakistan, Azadi and PoK. The top NC leaders are daring India and are acting as spokesman of separatists and Pakistan. This is a serious development and no one can ignore it. There is every possibility about many people being behind the Kashmir unrest which paralyzed normal life for more than four months."
He said, "Separatists have not stopped issuing protest calendars even today and have not given up. They (separatists) know it very well that people are not following their calendar but they are issuing these calendars to ensure that their bosses sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) remain happy."
Sources said, "The so-called JKLF chief Yasin Malik has been close to NC from the very beginning and he has played a vital role in the present unrest. It's believed that NC leaders were operating through him during the past five months. Desperate attempts were made to destabilize the PDP-BJP government during the unrest period. NC leaders created a notion that they only can rule JK and to do so they sought every body's help, including the separatists."
