jammu, Dec 5: Doing politics over the corpses isn't alien to Kashmir's separatist camp but Shabir Shah has undermined all the principles of morality and is out in open making a blind child a face of separatist propaganda machine in Kashmir.
Insha Mushtaq, a teenager who was injured in protests during the 2016 unrest lost her eye sight due to pellets. As the state government assured all financial and medical assistance to her, separatist Shabir Shah, already ignored by Geelani and Mirwaiz's faction, sensed opportunity to grab the headlines and stay relevant. He announced that he had adopted Insha and that she would be her third daughter. Shah announced publically that he would bear all the costs that would be incurred on Insha's treatment.
However, appalling attempt to hog media limelight has shown how low the separatists can stoop. The poor girl, knowing little how she has fallen prey to the separatist politics, is being photographed widely by Shah's press cell and these pictures being sent to press and circulated widely on social networking sites.
On December 4, newspapers here received a detailed press release from Shahir Shah in which it was announced that Shah's wife Dr Dr Bilquees along with her two daughters is taking Insha to Mumbai for a thorough medical check up. The two page press release of 475 words strived thoroughly to eulogize the large heartedness of the separatist Shabir Shah and his wife Dr Dr Bilquees.
Furthermore, Shah didn't stop here. His desperation to get more attention was revealed when he undermined the security protocol at the Srinagar Airport and his media cell took pictures of poor Insha holding hands of Shah's wife. Pertinently, Srinagar Airport is the high security zone Airport and photography is prohibited within its ambit. Shah gave a damn to the protocol and succeeded in taking Insha's pictures at the airport and sending them to wide range of newspapers and portals. In one of the pictures, sent to press, Insha is shown with two daughters of Shabir Shah while his wife Dr Bilquees is picking her branded hand bag.
Such a wide scale publicity of a single act of charity has sent shock waves across the political and social landscape of the state while people questioning the motive behind taking political advantage out of the gruesome wounds of Insha Mushtaq. "This is the fourth press note in a week in which Shabir Shah has mentioned Insha as her daughter and has highlighted how much worried he is about her treatment. We haven't seen before such a publicity being done any politician over a blinded child," said a journo here.
On social networking, people while ridiculing such cheap tricks for publicity say time has come when everyone should know how much low the separatists stoop in Kashmir. "I have tears in my eyes after seeing how this poor little blind girl is being used for the political purposes. If anyone was sincere in her treatment, he would have never publicized it in a way it is being done," wrote a netizen on a social networking site while reacting to the airport picture. |
