| Highest number of guests arrive from PoK | | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 25, June 25: A highest number of 59 guests arrived here from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) today when only one man and a woman travelled from here to the other side of the Line of Control (LoC).
As many as 42 returnees--21 each from both sides--also travelled in the Karvan-e-Aman bus alongwith the new guests, official sources said this afternoon.
They said 59 guests, including 23 women and 12 children, arrived here from POK to meet their relatives here for the first time after their separation in partition. This was the highest number of guests from POK to visit Kashmir valley after Mumbai terror attack last year.

New Delhi Jun 25: India today said infiltration from Pakistan has declined in the recent past, but the threat from terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir is "real" and there is no question of lowering the guard.
"Of late, there has been a decline in infiltration in the borders but we cannot say it is an improvement," Defence Minister AK Antony told reporters after addressing the Unified Commanders' Conference.
He made it clear that "there is no question of lowering our guard, especially in Jammu and Kashmir, as even now these terrorist outfits are working there. It is a real threat."

Jammu, Jun 25: A fresh batch of 1,667 pilgrims early today left for Amarnath cave shrine from Yatri Niwas base camp at Bhagwati Nagar here amid tight security cover, an official spokesman said.
A convoy of 54 vehicles, including 25 buses of State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC), nine private buses and 20 light motor vehicles, left for the Baltal base camp for the holy shrine, the spokesman added.
The pilgrims in this group also included 308 women, 60 children and 533 Sadhus, he informed. The yatra remained suspended from here yesterday following a heavy rush of pilgrims en route the holy shrine.

They exchanged sweets and gifts to observe the annual affair as thousands of people from different parts visited the shrine of Baba Chamliyal on both sides of the border.

Jammu, June 25: Even as the Central government today sat down to discuss possibilities of relocation of troops in Jammu and Kashmir, the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is reported to have ‘warmly’ replied a ‘tough’ letter of former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Amidst the Shopian fiasco, the Mufti had earlier this month written to the Prime Minister a heavily loaded letter captioned “are we loosing way in Kashmir”. The Prime Minister, sources said, has replied to Mufti’s letter acknowledging his ‘major’ role in process of reconciliation in Kashmir and promised to take on board his inputs in taking the key decisions.

SRINAGAR, JUNE 25: This year’s Shri Amarnathji Yatra from the traditional route of Pahalgam will commence with effect from 26 June 2009. The Yatra is already progressing from the Baltal route since 16th June.
