Reasi, Jan 23: To create awareness among the people especially student community regarding environment, District Information Centre, Reasi on Friday organized a debate competition on the topic "Environmental Awareness" in the premises of Government High School, Kotli Bhaga. According to press release, PO DRDA- Dr Jagdish Mehra was the chief guest on the occasion, while AD Employment-Sulakshna Thaur was the guest of honour. DIO-Parvinder Kour, Principal of School-Gopal Krishan Komal, Devinder Thakur, Headmaster GHS Sirla bhagha, staff members, students , sarpanch,large number of local people were also present on the occasion. Ten students of different classes of the school participated in the Debate competition. Students spoke on the topics like global warming, natural calamities, dwindling of greeneries and drying of the natural sources of water.Outlining the importance of the debate, Dr Mehra said that the topic of debate assumes special significance on the present day context and appreciated information department for creating awareness among students through such events. Later-on, a colourful cultural Programme by Vijay Kumar and group, Mohinder Kumar and Rakesh Kumar was also organized by the District Information Center Reasi which was highly appreciated by the audience. Artists presented songs and folk dances which kept the audience spell bound. The objective of this debate was to create mass awareness among students and others about environmental problems and to take measures for environment protection by active involvement of Students, rural masses and general public added DIO Reasi. Carrier counseling and awareness about various examinations conducted by service selection board was also organized for 10th class students by employment department,Reasi. The prizes were distributed by the chief guest among the winners and consolation prizes among the participants of the debate competition on the occasion. Principal of the school thanked Information Department for organizing the programme for creating awareness and connecting the students with their folk and suggested to organize such events in remote areas too. |
