e-governance award draws flak, website provides wrong contact details | | | Shiv Dev Thakur Early Times Report
Reasi, Jan 23: Recently announced e-governance award for the State of Jammu and Kashmir by Department of Administrative reforms has drawn a flak from the stake holders, information seekers, data collectors, RTI Activists as well as research scholars as the information provided by many of the districts is either wrong or incomplete. Although funds in Crores were being diverted every year from ADB, World Bank, Central Government as well as State Government for the smooth functioning of the important Departments, the officials at the helm of affairs have gone weary to utilize the amount effectively. The government led by Omar Abdulla failed to maintain the promised e-Governance plan as it is yet to take off in several departments of the state whereas in some cases it has fallen flat in the hand of high level bureaucrats who used to visit their websites occasionally. Many of the district administrations lack behind in the updation of their official site as a consequence of which the visitors were provided with wrong information. Similar was the case of the website of Reasi admin as the contact directory available online for the visitors who wish to contact any of the official of the district is providing a wrong information as well as contacts. Pertinently the website of the Reasi district is still showing officials who retired years ago. The contact details of the officials of the Districts as well as different divisions of the department of the district are same as earlier. As per information with Early Times, most of the officials of the District such as Assistant Executive Engineers of Various departments like AD Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution and CEO KDA, etc. are still not updated even after being transferred to Kishtwar and replaced by Kewal Kumar, the website of Reasi District is still showing Nazir Ahmed Shah as office bearer of Reasi district. Despite all this, even the contact details of the Administration are not available with the website and those available are not all correct. An official of Reasi district when contacted maintained the reply and put all the blames over District Information officer (NIC) Reasi. District Information officer (NIC) Reasi Asheesh Kumar Dogra on a conversation with Early Times said that he has updated the website last week and the updation of contact directory is purely on administration’s part as the NIC will update only after it receive additional/ new information or only if NIC is asked to update by the Administration and “the administration has not given any such input to update contacts and for this delay in updation, NIC is not at fault”, he added. |
