Jammu, Jan 23: After bringing laurels for Jammu and Kashmir at national level Championships played across the country, four among six players of District Shopian will represent India at an international Martial art-Sqay Championship scheduled to held in Bhutan. Four players namely MehranNaseer,Suhail Ahmad Teli, AfaqAbas,Rasiq Asharf of South Kashmir's District Shopian after recently wining gold medals each at a national level Championships held at Mysore and Goa are among the total six players of Jammu and Kashmir who have been selected by the Martial art-Sqay federation of India to represent the country and Jammu and Kashmir as well at an international Martial art-sqay Championship scheduled to be held in Bhutan from Next week. Three minor players MehranNaseer, Rasiq Ashraf, Afaq Abas according to details received started their career in Martial art-Sqay games last year only but within a short span of time succeeded to win silver, bronze at state level in 2013 and gold medals at national level last year besides all the three minors with Suhail Ahmad Teli succeeded to win the confidence of authorities to represent India at an international event. "We feel this martial art game must be made compulsory part of School education of the state, playing games have many health benefits unfortunately Proper training, infrastructure is what is lacking in thestate,we are hopeful we will register our success in Bhutan as well like we recently did in Mysore by defeating players of Goa,Mumbai and Maharashtra." Said Mehran and Afaq alike Talking to Early Times players said that they are confident to bring laurels for the state from Bhutan as well and credited the secret of their success to their Guide TahirHussain who according to details received single handedly without any support from Government authorities of the state is managing to train players and send them at to participate at state, national and international events. According to guide, TahirHussain many young boys in Schools across thekashmir are willing to play different games including Martial art as well at state, national and international level but since state administration is not cooperative to provide required infrastructure and facilities to players, talent of players who are otherwise able to win at any level of the tournament held across the globe goes in vain and the same is an irony for the youth of the state and for sports loving people as well. |
