PDP's announcement of RS candidates is first step toward formation of Govt with BJP | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 23: Formation of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and BJP is looking certain now because former has sent an olive branch to the later by announcing two candidates for the four Rajya Sabha seats from Jammu and Kashmir. With the official announcement of PDP to contest elections on only two seats one thing has become clear that PDP has entered into "undeclared" alliance with BJP for the polls of Rajya Sabha elections. This gesture shown by PDP is observed as first step towards formation of the PDP-BJP coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir. The PDP today announced to field Fayaz Ahmad Mir and Nazir Ahmad Laway for two Rajya Sabha seats. Credible sources in the BJP said that dialogue between PDP and BJP was going for the formation of coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir and both the parties were optimistic of positive outcome. "Announcement of PDP to contest only on one seat is a positive development. It also indicates that PDP has shown positive signs to the BJP as far as on going dialogue is concerned. It is believed that formal announcement of formation of PDP-BJP government would be announced after both the parties solve all the controversial issues which are likely to be rocked in the coalition in the coming days. Without announcing any alliance, PDP and BJP have decided to contest Rajya Sabha elections jointly without making any official announcement of alliance. Credible sources said that high command of the BJP is very particular about winning Rajya Sabha seats so party has decided to approach PDP to ensure victory of its candidates in the elections. Keeping in view the approaching date for filing nomination for Rajya Sabha elections is approaching both the parties have decided to enter into alliance without making official announcement. As par notification issued by the Election Commission of India, last date of filing nomination papers for Rajya Sabha elections is January 28. |
