Er. Jitender Kohli

These days the journalist has hectically involved in probing so much to feed pint and
electronic media to which is connected. None of the topic is avoided; the dignities get more
attention than the incidences society may prefer to know. The personal life of the film industry is presented as spicy topic of their personal affairs, true or not is not authenticated.
Similarly runs after the politicians interviewing their families, relatives and briefing their childhood days to this day. One can remember the Honourable mother, wife, brother and friends of Narendra Modi were interviewed and his life sketch was publicized.
This is not the only but all such dignities wee projected. Society is so pleased to find such journalists and journalism which didn't stop here but set teams to find the missing actresses, places and topics which may attract the society.
Society observing all devotion of the journalists and journalism is perturbed to find its failure to educate about the most powerful lady of this land, Sonia Gandhi and its family. The media lacks information about her education, school, institution and life before her marriage. Her religions before and after marriage is still not in know of the society. None has interviewed her parental side, why they visit this country, where they stay, how Sonia Gandhi attends them or so on. Media is exclusively silent about her ailment, her source of income, taxpaying standard, her assets in India and abroad. Her contribution to the nation building or failure is also not debated on media or printed. Her son Rahul Gandhi who rushes abroad, for what where is not talked about. This is all connected to their personal life but their being the national star their life can become an example for the society and coming generations. Why all this is hidden? Society is not very keen to know about it might hurt Sonia Gandhi and her family so it should not be touched. As the married life of Omar Abdullah is not touched nor her family is talked about, better to be mum, if hurts someone. But society still wonders on exemptions. But society shocks on the working of journalists and journalism. Regardless of the advances of service and technology, the practice journalism in world societies is being used now as not in the past. The journalism rests on four principles.
The first is never-ending search of truth. The second is to push ahead to meet changing times instead of waiting to be overtaken by them. The third is to perform services of some consequences and significance to mankind. The fourth and by all adds the most important is to maintain a steadfast in independence.
If these goals seem beyond the reach of the journalist in an imperfect world, it is nevertheless in character for him to struggle towards them. For all faults, and they are many, he is fated to attempt the impossible, to find, gather, organize, explain and disseminate the news ideas and opinions of the day to ever-increasing audience.
The degree of his accomplishment may be measured in the extent to which the public is informed on matters that vitally affected its whole basis of self-government on informed electorate, fails as well. In this sense, the journalist remains the vital and indispensable cog in any system of democratic government. The journalist has not met to its responsibilities failing in exempting those who could manage them. None of the journalists could even interviewed Sonia Gandhi or courage to question. Is it pure failure of the journalist, journalism or democracy? The Indian media is expected to rise from the bottom to attain its true standard it had established in all the world societies becoming practical partner in establishing real democracy, transpiration in governance by leaving no space for those who camouflage.
