IDF seeks Governor's intervention for Kahara-Jai road project 1/23/2015 11:23:10 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 23: The Public of villages Budhi, Joura Kalan and Lower Shamdlian of minority community has sought immediate intervention of the Governor of J&K state regarding Kahara-Jai road project dispute in Tehsil Thathri, District Doda, which arose in 2009 and is yet unsettled. According to press release issued by Thathri Development Front District Doda, an inquiry committee headed by Divisional Commissioner Jammu was constituted by Chief Secretary J&K government in 2012 but the members of the committee never visited the site themselves personally and they submitted that report to higher authorities which was prepared by the same lower level officers of R&B, PMGSY and Forest departments who had originally committed the irregularities & against whom the public had complained. "The 2007 Survey by R&B Sub-division Gandoh was from Kahara to Joura comprising a distance of 16 kms. The 2011 Survey by R&B division Bhadarwah was in opposite direction i.e from Jai to Joura Khurd comprising a distance of 09 kms as per the committee report. The total distance from Kahara to Jai thus is 25 kms. The Survey of 1987 had also envisaged the total distance to be 25 kms", the front claimed. TDF further said that now a new Survey of 9 kms from Halaran to Joura Khurd has been conducted by PMGSY as shown in the said report, though this distance is already included in 2007 Survey. Thus this 9 kms distance exists only in air & does not lie on the ground. This is a big fraud and needs immediate inquiry through vigilance department/ CBI. "The poor villagers fervently hope to get justice from the Governor of J&K state which the previous government could not provide them in these 5 years despite their repeated requests & protests.
