JAMMU, Mar 13: The young side of Punjab and Sindh Bank shall take on the experienced and tough opponent in Punjab Police in the final of the IV All India Police Martyrs' Hockey Tournament being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Police at K K Hakhu Stadium, here tomorrow. Earlier, in the semifinals, played today, Punjab and Sindh Bank defeated Indian Air Force (IAF) 9-7 via tie breaker. In the stipulated time, the match ended in a 4-4 draw paving the way for tie breakers. In penalty shoot outs, Punjab and Sindh Bank emerged victorious converting all their strokes into goal. From winners Punjab and Singh Bank, Gurvinder, Vikramjeet, Satvir and Parvinder Singh sounded the board in the third, 14th, 23rd and 41st minutes of the match. Later, Satvir, Harbir, Parvinder, Sarwanjeet and Vikramjeet Singh converted penalty strokes. Deputy Commissioner Jammu, A K Sahu was special guest in this match, who presented RS 4000 prize money to man of the match, Harvant Singh of IAF. In other semifinal, Punjab Police blanked New Gurdaspur Club 10-0. Harinder Singh remained leading scorer with three goals.. He was adjudged SNTPL man of the match. The award was presented by IGP Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar. Satvinder Singh and Amit Sandu scored two goals each while Jasbinder Singh, Vikramjeet Singh and Simarjeet were other scorers. |
