Srinagar, Mar 13 : The new Government in Jammu and Kashmir has decided to pull down all the illegal constructions which were raised by blue eyed people in-nexus with corrupt officials over the years and is coming up with a policy to book all the in-service and retired officials involved in allowing illegal constructions during their tenure. Talking to Early Times, Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Mohammad Ashraf Mir said that within two days from now government is coming up with a policy to deal with all the illegal constructions across the state which have been raised by blue eyed people in nexus with corrupt officials in previous National. Conference and Congress Government and has firm to teach a lesson to all such officials whether retired or in-service presently who allowed such illegal constructions during their tenure. "We have identified over 10,000 illegal structures which are violation of Master plans and other plans of urban areas, we are coming up with a policy to deal with such violations both in Jammu and Srinagar Divisions, we know some corrupt officials are also involved in allowing such illegal constructions, some of them are retired now and some in-service but nobody will be spared,"added Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Mohammad Ashraf Mir He said that all such illegal structures will either be pulled down and incase in any area demolition of any illegal structure may not be possible then in that case heavy penalty will be imposed on people involved and added that all such people who have raised illegal structures were warned by courts earlier to seal such constructions, but court directions were not followed in letter and spirit, so Government is coming up with policy to deal with all such illegal constructions strictly. Minister added that only those illegal constructions that have come up before March 5, 2014 will be considered for one time settlement but penalty will be imposed on them and the constructions post March 5 will be regularized but with new rules and regulations and added that in many cases as per reports received where major violations having taken place in Srinagar and Jammu cities and in other Town places before March 5, 2014, none among them will be spared as according to him policy to pull down illegal structures has become mandatory following the directions of the High Court to seal all illegal constructions. In Srinagar three days back State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) booked bureaucrat turned politician and former Srinagar Municipal Corporation commissioner, Farooq Renzu, for allowing the illegal construction of shopping within Srinagar City and an FIR (11/2015) against Renzu was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, sec 5 for the brazen misuse of official position. According to sources in an another FIR Number (12/2015), former Srinagar Municipal Commissioner, Syed Haq Nawaz,allegedly involved in grating illegal permission to Sarah City Mall, Mustaq Ahmad Chai and Farooq Renzu who worked as municipal commissioner and later vice-chairman, Srinagar Development Authority at the time of the construction of the three malls in city centre was booked for violating the Master plan and thereby benefiting the owners of these malls erected within Srinagar city. Pertinently locals here in Srinagar were surprised to see permission for construction of Sarah City Shopping Mall, Aksa Mall near Jahangir Chowk area contrary to modules of other cities of the country Like Delhi were such shopping malls are constructed outside busy areas and which is violation of Srinagar's master plan. |
