JU PGDE organises National Seminar on "Re-Engineering Education"

Jammu, Mar 13: Post Graduate Department of Education (PGDE), University of Jammu today organised a National Seminar on "Re-Engineering Education: Contexts and Content" under UGC-SAP Programme with eight sub themes as - Education in classrooms, Reforms in Teacher Education, Education and Media, Education and Social dynamics, Education for social responsibilities, Education and gender sensitization, Education and ICT and Inclusive Education. Prof. Mubarak Singh, Dean and Head of the Department was the Director of the Seminar and Prof. Renu Nanda and Prof. Rajeev Rattan Sharma.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor, Prof. R. D Sharma said that the role of the educator has now become more important. He called upon the educators to make the teaching learning process participative so that the involvement of both the educator and the learner is there.
Prof. Sharma urged the educators to focus on the target and to take regular feedback from the students and parents at the end of the session so as to assess his/her performance. HE called upon developing and maintaining effective educational programmes with special impetus on improving teaching and learning.
The Vice Chancellor said that it is the job of the teacher to ensure that students are provided the quality education by adopting better teaching methods.
Prof. R.D Sharma also congratulated the Department for organizing Seminar on such a theme than can acquaint the delegates with the contexts and content of the present educational system.
Prof. Sharma extended good wishes to the organizers and the participating teachers of the educational institutions, principals of various colleges, delegates from various Colleges of Education, scholars and students and hoped that the meet will help them share each others experiences and devise mechanism to further improve the teaching process.
