BJP under pressure to give due representation to Chenab Valley | | | JAMMU, Mar 13: Though speculations are rife over elevation of two BJP Ministers Abdul Gain Kohli, MLA from Kalakote and Chering Dorjey to Cabinet rank, the BJP is demanding elevation of two more ministers Sunil Sharma MoS PWD and Pawan Gupta MoS Science Technology to Cabinet rank. According to highly placed sources BJP leadership is under constant pressure to give due representation to Chenab Valley and Udhampur-Reasi districts in the Cabinet which have given majority of seats to Party in 2014 Assembly elections. It may be recalled that Chenab Valley and Reasi district had four ministers in Omar Abdullah Government which included Abdul Majid Wani and Aijaz Khan both of Cabinet rank and Waqar Rasool and Sajjad Kichloo as MoS. However the present coalition has not given justice to this entire belt when BJP out of six seats in Chenab Valley won four seats this time giving a serious jolt to NC and Congress. Likewise in Reasi and Udhampur districts the Party won three seats out of six seats while Udhampur was won by independent Candidate Pawan Gupta who later supported BJP. However during the Council of Ministers this entire belt failed to get due representation in Cabinet and instead of getting two Cabinetministers for addressing the problems of the people of this belt properly, the present coalition gave only two MoS to this entire belt which is also most backward area of the State, sources said. Sources said that State leadership of BJP is under constant pressure to give at least two Cabinet ministers to the belt with one MoS fromeither from Doda or Ramban for the overall development of Chenab belt and Doda Reasi districts. Sources said some BJP activists and social organizations from this hilly belt have also submitted representations to Party High Command in New Delhi and sought the immediate intervention of Party National president Amit Shah. |
