| People feel scared after militant attacks in Valley | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 7: With militants continuing their attacks in the valley, the pro-India forces are feeling totally scared there.
According to sources, the increasing terrorist violence has sent shivers down the spine with people feeling totally scared and hopeless. What was earlier expected has not come true even after the change of guard at Centre. The killing of three cops in broad daylight by terrorist in South Kashmir district of Shopian and injury to one SOG officer has exposed the government claims that situation was limping back to normalcy. The militant attacks in the valley coupled with two fidayeen attacks at Samba and Kathua last month has made it clear that militants are neither down nor out and they can strike at will any time and at any place, feels a common Kashmiri now who had pinned high hopes in the new leadership of New Delhi that it will curb the activities of terrorists once for all in order to restore total normalcy and peace in trouble-torn valley.
Sources said the increasing attacks of militants have also put a question mark on the government's return formula for over four lakh Kashmiri Pandit minorities leading an exiled life for over last 26 years in Jammu and other parts of the country.
Sources said the nationalist elements in Valley who are totally opposed to violence and gun had heaved a sigh of relief after the change of guard at Centre that it will not only crush the terrorists and separatists in the state but also give a befitting reply to Pakistan which is responsible for 26 year long proxy war in J&K and pushing of armed desperados.
Sources said despite the claims of BJP it seems that the present government is also pursuing the same policies on Kashmir viz a viz terrorists and separatists which were pursued by previous Congress Government. Moreover Centre was doing a great blunder by depending on the stereo type politicians of the state who have nothing except to grind their own axe. These politicians had sole aim of clinging to power in the trouble torn state by hook or crook and they are advising the union government accordingly, sources added.
Sources said the experts on Kashmir in union capital san basic knowledge and background of Kashmir issue as well as psyche of people of the Valley. Depending on such experts will complicate the problem in the state, sources added.
Sources said the union government should review its Kashmir policy and involve all those former bureaucrats as well as some well meaning people from all the three regions of the state to evolve a proper strategy on Kashmir to stem the rot.
It is astonishing that BJP which is ruling at Centre has a well organized cadre even in Kashmir who are fully aware of the ground situation and whose suggestions to deal with the issue can prove prophetic but it seems the party does not seek their views, sources said.
By involving the experts from south and ignoring those who are well aware of the situation in the state, know its people and topography, geography and peoples psyche fully will complicate situation further.
It is high time for the union government to involve some well meaning people from the state who have a nationalistic outlook in defusing the situation and for restoration of total normalcy, sources added. |
