Jammu, Apr 7: The insensitivity of the previous government could be gauged from the fact that after lapse of more than four years, the Technical Education Department (TED) of Jammu has been failed to complete the structure of Industrial Training Institute (ITI) building, Bani in time bound which was framed by department in one year ago.
Besides, the TED started the construction of ITI building in April 5, 2002 and framed the date of completion of ITI building in year 2013-14 but due to the lackadaisical approach of the concerned department; the superintendent of ITI is forced to run classes of students in rented building of Block Development Office (BDO), Bani.
Sources in the department informed Early Times that to aiming to create avenues of employment for the youth of far-flung areas in different fields, the former Minister for Technical Education, R.S Chib had laid foundation stone of the ITI building on April 5, 2002, with cost of Rs 2.46 crore but owing to insufficient space, the ITI, Bani still has run only three trades and rest of the trades is yet to be introduced.
He further said that all the claimed done by previous government to provide technical education to the youth for far flung areas was proving as flop, adding, "Due to delaying in completion of ITI building, we have also hired a rented building for hostel and paid Rs 3500 per month as rent of hostel, adding, "If we have own hostel then we save the public exchequer and utilize that money for the welfare of the students", he said.
When Early Times contacted Superintendent of ITI Bani, Ajay Kumar said that the structure of ITI building was almost completed but the finishing work was going on, adding, "As work will be completed, we will shift in a newly constructed building and new session will start there ", he said.
Assistance Executive Engineer of Public Work Department, Ram Lal said that we have decided date of completion of ITI building in May 2015 and in June we will hand over the building to Technical Education Department. |
