Separatists reap fruits as 62450 migrant families get peanuts | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 7: As compared to money spent on security of separatists, the migrants have received peanuts during the past twenty-five years. Responding to a question, the minister incharge relief and rehabilitation said Rs. 11933.737 lac were spent on the migrants as cash assistance, 658.246 lac on food , 113.823 lac on infra facilities and 59.70 lac under civic action program in last 25 years. The government of Jammu and Kashmir through different sources spent only 127.66 (approximately) on 41117 Kashmiri migrant families displaced from the valley after the out braking of militancy in the state. As per the government reply The government of Jammu and Kashmir today said that there are 62,450 registered migrant families in India and out of which 41117 families are registered in state of Jammu and Kashmir alone while 21333 are registered in other parts of the country including at Delhi since 1996, while only 21.85 Crore amount was spent on the welfare and betterment of the community out of an amount of Rs. 1618.40 Crore sanctioned by the center under Prime Minister Package. Giving details of registration of migrant within and outside the state, the minister said in 1996, 2002, 2008 and 2014, the Minister through Under Secretary to Government Revenue Relief & Rehabilitation Department stated that of 41117 registered migrants families, 37128 are Hindu and 2246 Muslim. he said 1738 families of sikh community had also migrated. According to him, there were five others. The reply further stated that approximately 21,333 families are registered at Delhi and other states and the bifurcation of these families did not take place like it happened in Jammu. On number of migrant youths given government jobs in the valley against the already announced packages , he said 6000 migrant youths are to be accommodated in the state government jobs and around 3000 supernumerary posts were created under PM package for its implementation. In addition, 2184 candidates have been selected against these advertised posts by different recruiting agencies and for the remaining vacant posts the process of advertisement and subsequent selection is still in progress. On plans for return of Kashmiri migrants to their native places, the government stated that the government of India sanctioned Rs. 1618.40 Crore for rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants, but due to poor responses from the migrants, the package could not be implemented fully except in respect of two components of the package I.e. in respect of providing employment and construction of transit accommodations in the valley. The government reply stated that only 218.463 Crore is the expenditure in last 7 years out of sanctioned 1618.40 Crore package. Meanwhile 1054 Jammu migrant families are also getting cash assistance of Rs. 400/person per month subjected to a ceiling of Rs. 1600/family , beside get ration @Atta 9 Kg per soul per month, Rice 2 Kg per soul per month, K. oil 10 ltr per family per month and Rs. 300 for purchase of fodder per cattle per month. The government has also spent Rs. 1979.36 lacs on Jammu migrants since October 2007 on wards, beside also submitted a package of 91.56 crore for their return. |
