Govt proposes to upgrade Samba-Mansar road
Submits proposal of Rs. 22.03 Cr to GoI, no project for 7 KM Chountra-Ramnagar road

Jammu, Apr 7:In an attempt to tap the tourism potential in Ramnagar constituency, Government has earmarked a project at the cost of Rs. 22.03 Cr for the up-gradation of Samba-Mansar road, a detailed project report (DPR) which has been sent to Government of India (GoI), approval of which is yet awaited.
It was disclosed by government in the Lower house of the legislature while replying a question of MLA Ramnagar Ranbhir Singh Pathania regarding the proposed action plan for improving the dilapidated condition of Samba to Mansar and Jammu to Surinsar roads causing inconvenience to the commuters there.
The tabled reply reads that the road from Samba to Mansar having a length of 22 Kms is of blacktop status with damages to surface. A Detailed Project Report for "improvement/ up-gradation of Samba Mansar road Km 11-19" at a cost of Rs. 22.03 Crores has been submitted to Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, GoI for sanction under Central Road Fund. Approval is awaited.
Further, the government reply reads that Sidra-Surinsar road having a length of 23 kms is of blacktop status. The road is double lane except for about 04 kms stretch which passes through wildlife sanctuary. The department has taken up the widening work of left over stretch at a cost of Rs. 675.00 lacs under State Plan against which Rs. 92.00 lacs have been utilized ending 03/2014. During 2014-15, an amount of Rs. 128.00 lacs has been released and the work is in progress.
As far as up-gradation of Thial Chountra to Ramnagar road, the tabled reply reads that from Thial side, the length of road from Thial to Chountra mata is 13.00 kms out of which 6.00 kms up to village Darbara has been completed under NABARD and is trafficable. The remaining 7.00 kms are not approved under any plan at present.
