15 yrs on, former NC Mantri's relative 'rules' Lower Munda 4/8/2015 8:41:40 PM Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 7: A close relative of a former minister in the erstwhile Omar Abdullah regime is enjoying a plum posting in Exercise Department at Toll Post Lower Munda, gateway to Kashmir Valley, for the past 15-years. As per the details available with "Early Times", the issue came to fore after vigilance Organization raided the toll post on Jan 3, 2015 and recovered the cash in excess from there. After conducting the raid at Lower Munda Toll Post, the SVO sleuths sought the details of the officers who have overstayed at the said Toll Post and came to know that Inspector Saleem Akbar who happened to be the close relative of a former senior National Conference minister was posted in the toll post in January 2008 while under normal circumstance, the stay for post of the excise Inspector at any place could not go beyond maximum three years, but this close relative of former Minister in Omar's cabinet, has been calling the shots for the past over seven years. The political influence of the Excise Inspector Saleem Akbar could be gauged from the fact that he (Saleem Akbar) has served at the post for 15 years, earlier the he remained posted there for 8 years as sale tax Inspector, thus continuously enjoying his posting at Lower Munda Toll Post in one or other capacity since past 15 years. Similarly another influential Inspector Mansoor Ahmed Zarger is also enjoying the plum posting since past six years also at Lower Munda Toll Post. Sources within the department said that Mansoor was never transferred after joining the department in 2008. Gowhar Majid Sub Inspector is also enjoying his posting at Lower Munda Toll Post since May 2010 in violation of rules and regulation while other include Ajaiz Ahmed Shah Data Entry Operator (DEO) enjoying his posting since July 2005, Ruhail Banday DEO since July 2006, Rayaz Ahmed Mantoo DEO since February 2009, Abdul Hamid Ganie Excise Guard since November 2010, Ghulam Mohammad Lone Excise Guard since November 2010 and many more who are enjoying their posting at Lower Munda Toll Post in violation of the rules and regulations.
