Early Times Report

srinagar, June 13: As many as 29 militants have been killed in counter-infiltration and anti-militancy operations in Kashmir this year so far.
"A total of 29 terrorists were eliminated in operations along the Line of Control and in the hinterland," a defence spokesman said after a high-level security review meeting held at Army's Badamibagh Headquarters.
The meeting, co-chaired by GoC 15 Corps Lt Gen Subrata Saha and DGP K Rajendra Kumar, was attended by senior army officers, police officials, paramilitary officers and heads of various intelligence units in the Valley.
The meeting took stock of the results of the counter infiltration and counter terrorist operations in 2015 so far and reviewed the overall security situation in the Valley to draw out the future security strategy, the spokesman said.
During deliberations on the overall security situation, the plans to ensure a robust counter-infiltration grid along the LoC and counter-terrorist grid in the hinterland were discussed, he said.
"Special emphasis was given on ensuring extensive security measures for the Amarnath Yatra. Various facets of the yatra including administrative, communication, medical, etc were discussed and coordinated," he said.
All security agencies expressed their satisfaction on their preparedness for the period and particularly the added security afforded by the infusion of cutting-edge technology into the surveillance infrastructure, the spokesman said. "The Core Group was also given an update on the intelligence," he added.
