Education department's fishy role in ZEOs transfer | Money power, influence used by powerful to arrange favours | | Ajay Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, June 13: The Education Department that boasts of cleansing the system of all felonies that have engulfed the entire set-up is marred by some glaring faults that sends the department as well ministry under the scanner. As per the reports, the department too is flourishing like a transfer industry where the blue-eyed are allegedly making fortunes by throwing the norms and the stipulations to the winds. In one such example the major issue of transfers of ZEOs in the entire state that were executed last month, many of them having received the transfer orders have either not switched to their new place of postings or are managing ill-affair to get their postings with held in the earlier position. Sources in the department inform that out of nearly 150 ZEOs ordered for transfer to various places of postings in the education department, many are still either holding their old positions or have got themselves transferred to the new posting places and are trying their means to retrieve their older positions. In Rajouri district where some ZEOs were ordered transfer to other places, have refused to join their new postings or have joined and are trying their ill-means top secure their postings back to their earlier positions. "Some of the ZEOs who have been accorded transfer and ordered to join new place of postings have not abided by the norms and are overstaying at their original places. Though, some of them who have undertaken the transfer are using the money power to get their posting back in their original place of posting," said a source privy to the departmental affairs. The minister for education Naeem Akhtar when contacted for his take on such manipulations being held in the department gave a quite astonishing reply. "You ask the commissioner secretary about the details of such activities and I too will find out where the fault lies," said Naeem Akhtar. The minister, thus seem to have ducked the question while giving a vague reply. The commissioner secretary Education Shalin Kabra too played hide and seek with the ET reporter when he tried to contact him. " I do not find it feasible to reply the query on mobile phone . You better contact me on my office landline number," said the commissioner secretary. All attempts to reach the commissioner secretary on the landline proved futile as the call picked in his office was either not replied or held for longer duration without answering anything. The people of the area are skeptical about some fishy thing going on in the education department over the transfers of the ZEOs and have demanded an enquiry as to why after being given the order of transfer, the ZEOs are not abiding by the rule or are using illegal means to impress the blue-eyed in the department to retrieve their original place of postings. |
