Jammu, June 13: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh visited the upcoming campus of Central University of Jammu at Bagla (Rahya Suchani), District Samba today. According to press release, Singh described CUJ as a unique institution of higher education as it has been established with an objective of meeting the international, national and regional challenges with its unique academic programmes, largely different from those of other higher education institutions in the state. He appreciated University's progress in a very short span of less than four years. Running 12 postgraduate and eight research degree programmes in this short period in itself is an achievement, said the Dy. CM. He appreciated the location of the University and a Solar Park being established by the University. Laying stress on the application of knowledge generated by the it. Singh emphasized on having no compromise on the merit of the teachers/scientists to be recruited at the entry level and on developing a high academic culture. He assured all help to the University that the State Government could provide, particularly in the development of infrastructure. Later, he interacted with the media and told them the objectivity of the establishment of CUJ. Earlier Prof. Ashok Aima, VC, CUJ welcomed the Hon'ble Dy. CM with a floral bouquet. He expressed his happiness over the Dy. CM being from the teaching fraternity, who could understand the problems of the University from a wider perspective. The VC requested the Dy CM for providing a Kendriya Vidayalay on campus, providing electricity to the demand and widening and repair of roads. The executive engineer, R.P.
