Street Warriors wins inaugural tie by 5 wkts

AKHNOOR, June 14 : Street Warriors made it a fine five wickets win against ESCC Akhnoor in the inaugural match of the Summer Cup Akhnoor Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, organised by Singh Cricket Club at Government Higher Secondary School ground, here today.
Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, ESCC Akhnoor set a target of 155 runs for eight wickets, which, in reply, Street Warriors chased in just 11.5 overs for the loss of five wickets.
Deepak Sharma made 20-ball 22 runs while Binny played brilliant innings of 50 runs coming off just 33 deliveries. Sudan added 27-ball 31 runs. From Street Warriors, Aman emerged as most successful bowler with three wickets while Pankaj and Amit shared two each.
Later, Street Warriors chased the total making 155 runs in for five wickets that too sparing 8.1 overs of their innings. Sumit Rajput hit the opponent bowlers hard making 41 runs off just 15 deliveries. Dilawar Singh (27 off 16 balls) and JV (39 off 16 balls) were other main scorers. From ESCC Akhnoor, Sonu took two wickets, followed by Binny, Deepak and Pankaj, who shared apiece each.
For his match winning innings, Sumit Rajput was declared man of the match. The opening match was officiated by Vikas Bali and Dayal Singh as umpires while Rahul Manni was scorer.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by SP Rural, Rajiv Pandey, who was chief guest. Prominent among others present were SDPO Akhnoor, Naresh Singh, Kuldeep, Narinder Langer, Amarjit Singh, Joginder Magotra and Krishan Lal.
This tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Sham Singh Langeh, chairman of Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor.
