| Government thwarts separatists' anti- India conclave | | Several detained enroute Geelani's residence | | Javaid Naikoo Early Times Report Jammu, june 14: The government thwarted scheduled Seminar proposed in Srinagar by Separatist faction led by Hardliner Syed Ali shah Geelani and detained many separatist leaders and others invited from outside the state to attend the seminar. Schedule One-day seminar titled as "How to Resist RSS Agenda" wasexpected to attract participation of a number of Sikh, Christian and other Minority community leaders, including Simranjit Singh Mann of Akali Dal Punjab, Kanwarpal Singh of Dal Khalsa Punjab, Gautam Navlakha noted writer and human rights activist, besides Separatist leaders from Kashmir,Jammu and Rajouri areas. All main roads leading to Hyderpora Residence of Geelani were blocked since early in the morning by authorities and nobody was allowed to move beyond check points. According to Police sources, information about a schedule massive public gathering was received. As per the sources, Gautam Navlakha and all other Sikh leaders who had reached here from Delhi and Punjab were detained from a hotel in Srinagar, besides some noted Separatist leaders on their way to Hyderpora were also detained at many places. Sources however said that all the leaders including guests from outside the state were detained for time being . Authorities had also sanitized the house of Syed Ali Geelani by deploying more security personnel and closing the road leading towards his residence where a seminar was scheduled today. Police officials deployed on a check Point said that they have been strictly directed not to allow anybody reach Geelani's residence. Police had previous day detained many Separatist leaders in their houses including senior leaders Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Ayaz Akbar and Mehraj-ud- din Kalwal. Until today all the separatist leaders including Hardliner Syed Ali shah Geelani, shabir Shah,Nayeem Khan and Yaseen Malik were given free access by authorities to conduct public rallies . Reports of waving Pakistani and ISIS flags continue to emerge from all such rallies of Separatists followed by controversial statements from different political Parties of the country criticizing PDP-BJP coalition for allowing free access to Separatists for conducting rallies with impunity. Today was the first successful attempt of authorities in which separatists were not allowed to conduct a seminar at Hyderpora-Srinagar where Separatist Faction (G) of Syed Ali Shah Geelani has established its head office. |
