US need not to poke its nose in India-Pak bilateral matters | J&K's political future | | Early times Report JAMMU, June 14: United States of America (USA), which has all along sided with rogue Pakistan, which is also considered epicenter of global terrorism, has once again poked its nose in the bilateral affairs of India and Pakistan. USA the other day asked India and Pakistan to take steps to reduce tensions and move toward resuming dialogue as the two countries engage in a verbal duel. It indirectly referred to the Kashmir issue that has embittered relations between India, the aggressed upon, and Pakistan, the aggressor. India rightly claims that Jammu & Kashmir as it existed on August 15, 1947 is an integral part of India and not part of partition plan. Pakistan, on the other hand, considers Jammu & Kashmir an unfinished agenda of partition. As for the UN resolutions on the state, they require Pakistan to vacate Glgit-Baltistan and Pakistan-occupied-Jammu & Kashmir and recognize the Indian right to stations its troops in the areas to be vacated by Pakistan. What did the US State department spokesperson Jeff Rathke tell reporters at Washington D.C? He said: "I don't have a comment on that specific operation," when asked if the US supported or was concerned over India's cross border strike in Myanmar. But "we encourage India and Pakistan to take steps to reduce tensions and to move towards resuming talks," he said, and added that "the relationship between India and Pakistan is critical to advancing peace and stability in South Asia, so we welcome any steps India and Pakistan can take to reduce tensions and move toward resuming dialogue". "We encourage India and Pakistan to take those kinds of steps, and we believe that India and Pakistan each have a mutual interest in addressing the threat posed by violent extremism and terrorism," he further said. It was clear from what the US State Department spokesperson said that the White House was not pleased with what happened in the two countries after the Myanmar incident. It is pertinent to mention here that the US interference came in the wake of the Indian army's June 8-9 very successful operation across the border in Myanmar against the North-East insurgents. That day, the Indian Army avenged the murder of 18 soldiers of the 6 Dogra regiment, six belonged to Jammu, by liquidating nearly 100 insurgents who used to conduct anti-India operations in Manipur and other North-Eastern states. The victorious Indian soldiers also dismantled two terror training camps. The splendid military feat alarmed the Pakistani civil and military establishments to the extent that they questioned the intentions of New Delhi and warned it of serious consequences in case the Indian Army tried to replicate Myanmar in Pakistan or Pakistan-occupied-Jammu & Kashmir. So much so, two days ago, Pakistan national Assembly adopted a resolution that warned India of serious consequences in case India replicated Myanmar in Pakistan or Pakistan-occupied-Jammu & Kashmir. Jammu & Kashmir is bilateral issue and the 1972 Shimla Agreement between the two states clearly said so. It is for the two nations to resolve their bilateral issues through discussion and dialogue subject to the condition that talks would be held with Pakistan provided it stopped exporting terror into India and playing nefarious games in its Jammu & Kashmir. USA has no business. It should hold itself aloof from the sib-continent's bilateral issues. But more than that, India is a sovereign country, which is capable of doing what is needed to be done. USA would do well to remember that the Indian nation is not prepared to condone any of the Pakistani crimes. |
