AKHNOOR, July 11 : Hosts Singh Cricket Club shall be playing against Challenger Club in the final of the Summer Cup Twenty20 Tournament being organised at Government Higher Secondary School ground, here on July 19. With Challenger Club already in the final, Singh Club today defeated Eleven Stars by five runs in the second semifinal, reduced to six overs for the chasing side after rains disrupted the game. Earlier, batting first, Singh Club made 218 runs for five wickets. Jatin Wadhawan played brilliant innings of unbeaten 71 off 50 balls hitting six fours and four sixes. Sunny Mahi (48 off 27 balls, 6x3, 4x6) and Puneet Kumar (24 off 10 balls, 6x2, 4x2) were other leading scorers. From Eleven Stars, Prince and Danny took two wickets each. In reply, given a target of 60 runs, Eleven Stars could make 54 runs for six wickets in allotted six overs. Parveen Singh and Deepak Baba were main contributors to the total with 12 and 13 runs respectively. Raman Dutta took three wickets from Singh Club. Later, Jatin Wadhawan was named man of the match and given away Rs 1000 cash prize by vice president of Little Flower School Akhnoor, Rajinder Sharma, who was special guest in today’s semifinal. Vikas Bali and Dayal Singh were umpires while Shanky maintained the score in this match in the semifinal. |
