‘Bad Omen’ continues to hit Health Minister | Digital X Ray Unit inaugurated with fanfare shuts down within 24 hrs | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 11: Medical and Health Education Minister Choudhary Lal Singh who has already attracted lot of controversies today landed in another soup as within 24 hours after the inauguration of digital radiography facility worth Rs 2 crore at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), the machine was put under the veils as the hospital has no staff to handle the machine. Some of the doctors pleading anonymity stated that there is lack of coordination between the authorities and just to gain the media hype, minister inaugurated the digital radiography facility knowing the fact very clearly that there was scarcity of technical staff in the hospital. "It is crystal clear that the decision to inaugurate the machine without doing the proper homework", said a senior doctor wising anonymity adding that authorities and the minister were wasting the government exchequer by inaugurating the costly machine without the experts who can handle them well. He further said that there are so many cases wherein various costly machines are lying defunct in the hospital following the negligence of the hospital authorities. If sources are to be believed, today in the morning, some patients were benefitted with the facility but after some time the room was closed to due to the reasons best known to the hospital authorities. "Yesterday the Minister in his statement which was carried by all the newspaper of the state disclosed that this facility would be free of cost however the hospital authorities charged Rs 120", rued some of the patients in GMC&H. |
