Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 11: Within four months after its formation, the Jammu and Kashmir government is all set to go for a major cabinet reshuffle with new faces likely to be inducted. It is believed that some incumbent ministers will be shown the door.
Sources privy to this development told Early Times that the name of a senior PDP leader is making rounds within the coalition government for being inducted in Mufti's cabinet. "There are high chances that some incumbent ministers likely to be shown the door. Discussions over this issue are going on in full swing. Nothing can be said with certainty yet but for sure a reshuffle in cabinet is in the offing," sources said.
It was informed further that the chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed himself has taken the decision to ensure that in the near future a reshuffle in his council of ministers is done with the sole objective to end the anti- incumbency factor that has began to sprout its roots in the state much ahead of the expected time. Mufti, as per sources, has been briefed by some of his close aides about the functioning of some of the ministers in his cabinet, apprising him about the perception on ground about them and how they have failed to deliver. "There are even some ministers in the BJP camp about whom the reports of not meeting the peoples' expectations are coming to fore. In fact the chief minister has already intimated the BJP high command about their performance and has got the nod from the party as well to show them the door," one of the BJP leaders divulged.
Reports also informed that axe may fall upon some council of ministers that have the status of MoS. "Even there are some inexperienced men with the rank of MoS who have not performed much, resulting in chaos on ground. It is being seen what changes could there be made to ensure that the men with merit are accorded the responsibility to deliver," said a senior PDP man, wishing not to be named.
