Tainted Ex Registrar also in fray | Quest for SKUAST (K) VC | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 11: As the term of the incumbent Vice Chancellor (VC) of Sher e Kashmir University of Agricultural University (SKUAST) Srinagar Kashmir ends by the end of this month, the quest for a fresh vice chancellor has begun. Among others, a tainted former registrar is also in the fray. Sources revealed that the existing Vice Chancellor Prof Tej Pratap Singh soon after assuming office removed the then Registraras he was said to be involved in large scale bungling and corruption in the university. The former Registrar was involved in backdoor appointments in the University as well. As lot of resentment was growing against the then Registrar , the VC was forced to attach him at some unimportant post. "This is a matter of shame that this tainted officer who retired three years ago from University and has a tainted record is also being considered for the post. We appeal Chief Minister to make appointment of new VC in a most transparent manner" said an employee of SKUAST (K) without disclosing his name "The need of the hour is to set up the search committee and find a suitable and dynamic person for the post," said another official. He added that in case the process is delayed, the institution is bound to suffer. The process to search for new VC should have begun two months earlier," he added. Meanwhile, a group of students and faculty members of SKUAST-K has earlier appealed to authorities to set up a search committee for appointment of new Vice-Chancellor for this institution forthwith. |
