United at Iftaar; Separatists threaten street protests against PDP-BJP regime | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 11: At Iftaar party hosted by Syed Ali Geelani, separatist leadership including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammed Yasin Malik unanimously threatened to launch street protests against the ruling PDP-BJP coalition and termed the "Indian military occupation in Jammu & Kashmir as unconstitutional, illegal and immoral." Terming the reunion "historic", the separatists in one voice hinted at 2010 like situation saying that they would ask people to come to streets if the "government doesn't stop the human rights abuse." "This representative session unambiguously announces that the dangerous and wicked policies of the fascist and communal organizations of India like RSS, BJP, Shiv Sena, Bajrangdal, VHP and Congress about the Muslims and Kashmir will be resisted united and we will neither leave our Jammu brethren on the mercy of these forces and nor will be anybody allowed to repeat the painful history of 1947," reads a copy of the resolution, which the separatists announced at the end of the party hosted at Geelani's Hyder Pora residence. While both Malik and Mirwaiz made it to Geelani's residence to attend the party, the leaders pledged to take the "ongoing freedom movement to its logical conclusion." This anti- national meeting was held at stone's throw from the Police Headquarters. The separatists alleged that human rights abuse have gained new heights in the present regime. "While strongly condemning the bloodshed, excesses, arrests, crackdown and house to house search operations by the Indian forces, this representative session feels that since the inception of the coalition government of PDP-BJP, the graph of human rights violations has shown an alarming increasing trend and the life of the common man has been made hell," the separatists alleged. "A mysterious killing process by the unknown gunmen has started and minor and innocent students are being arrested and then implicated in the false and fabricated cases," they added. "The Jammu Muslims are prime target and the communal forces are planning to eliminate their identity and existence by unabated use of state power and machinery," the resolution reads. "This representative session announces on this historical occasion that the process of innocent killings, atrocities, arrests, house to house search operations and harassment of the Jammu Muslims is not stopped then the pro-freedom leadership will appeal the people to come on the roads and will run a joint and organized movement against the state terrorism of the Mufti-RSS government. Insha'Allah," the resolution said. After the split of Hurriyat, it is for the first time that Mirwaiz and Malik visited Geelani's residence. Mirwaiz and Geelani had often been at daggers drawn while the former last year said in public gaze: who the hell is Geelani.
