Nervous BJP leaders, ministers line up in Delhi | Amit Shah to chair crucial meet today | | Fazal Khan Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 11: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah is all set to chair a crucial meeting of the BJP leaders from Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi on Sunday. Most BJP leaders have already arrived in the national capital well in advance to gauge the mood of the party top brass and to apprise the high command about the issues confronting them. Sources told Early Times that BJP leaders from Jammu and Kashmir have prepared a long list of complaints and are all set to confront the party minister, whom they allege have failed to deliver and have let down the party leaders and activists. An insider said a few BJP leaders are unhappy over the fact that PDP after running away with a Lion's share in cabinet has done the same while appointing heads of various boards and corporations in the state. "The BJP president wants to seek our feedback on party's Mahasampark (Mass contact) programme. We want to tell him (Amit Shah) that none of the ministers have participated in the functions which were held in connection with Mahasampark programme of the party especially in Srinagar," the insider added. He said the much hyped membership drive stands punctured as the people whom the party activists had enrolled were left disappointed as none of the ministers could spare time to meet the people who were brought into the party fold. "There are many issues which the high command is not aware about. We will try our best to ensure that we provide the correct feedback to the party president Amit Shah and the Prime Minister Narendra modi about how our ministers have messed up the sensitive issues in the state," the insider added. On the other hand ministers, who are likely to be asked to present their report card, sources said, are in a dilemma as they have nothing much to show. "Not many ministers have done anything during their first 100 days in office. They have been busy in seeking the official accommodation and the official vehicles for themselves. They have allowed PDP to call the shots and take the major initiatives and the decisions. Most BJP ministers are acting as second fiddles and seem unaware about what is happening around them," said a source. A BJP leader while talking to Early Times said that BJP president has summoned the party leaders due to him getting adverse feedback from the ground. "When Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had visited Jammu to commemorate one year of Narendra Modi government in office he was greeted by a shutdown and he had to address the handful of the BJP leaders inside an auditorium. Singh during his Jammu visit had expressed dismay over BJP leaders failing to strike a chord with people," the leader added. He said that situation took an ugly turn earlier this month when Rajanth Singh during his 2-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir was apprised by the party workers that all is not well within BJP and high command should pull up the ministers. Sources said that BJP ministers are all set to face tough questions as party high command is not haooy with their performance as "second fiddles" despite party having equal number of seats that PDP has. "BJP ministers not involving the experienced bureaucrats and refraining from taking their advice over policy matters too has annoyed the party top brass. Lack of coordination among the BJP ministers and they refraining from sharing a common platform with each other are the other major issues which would be discussed during the meeting," the sources added. |
