Jammu, July 11: With a view to promote financial literacy among the public, NABARD is organizing financial literacy awareness programmes on pan India basis. And today the same was organized through Kiran Youth Affairs & Sports Club at village Dethpeth, Kishtwar. A large gathering comprising of young, old, males, females attended the programme with great zeal. The programme was inaugurated by Adarsh Gupta, District Development Manager of NABARD. He appraised the gathering about basics of finance, banking and insurance and the role these have in our day to day life. He explained them about Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna and about recently launched social security schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna and Atal Pension Yojna. He said that earlier a vast majority of people in our country did not have access to affordable pension and insurance, but with the launch of above mentioned social security schemes poor and unorganized workers too have been provided with the opportunity to avail easy access to insurance and pension. This way India is moving towards Jan Suraksha. Besides these, details of various services offered through banks were explained like, saving schemes, credit schemes especially Kissan Credit Card. Special focus was given to prevent frauds related to ATM, fake lotteries, fake currency and related knowledge was disseminated to people. Besides DDM NABARD, the programme was attended by Prahlad Bhagat (District President, KYASC), Munshi Ram (KYASC), Sunil Shan (RSETI) and members of local panchayats, Basheer Ahmed, Aziz Mohammad, etc.
