Jammu, July 11: To create awareness on population issues and help the younger generation to be more participative, Gandhi Global Family commemorates World Population Day 2015 by honouring eleven couples who have just one dependent child each. According to press release, Padmashri S P Varma, Vice President of organization was felicitated special eleven couples which includes Dr Nusrat Jabeen & Dr Abdul Ghani, Smt Devika & Sh Roobal Sharma, Madhu and V K Bakshi, Pooja and Chetan Kochar, Dr Shaweta & Dr Rahul Sharma, Gitanjali & Kovid Khosla, Deepika & Kamal Rohit Mahajan, Sarabjeet Kour and Dr Taran Singh, Pushpa & Dr Sanjay Raina, Shivani & Manish Joshi, Sangeeta & Sanjeev Luthra, and declared them as GGF ambassadors who are promoting single child family concept. Varma added that the number of people on the planet will rise continuously from 7 billion today to 11billion in 2100 if same tempo continues, which means our next generations will face survival challenge if we don't act now. He expressed that If India has to grow as a superpower we have to keep a check on our rising population. For him, population explosion is a formidable challenge which requires International to grassroot attention. Varma stressed that the young couples need to be educated in this direction with the help of concerned departments & NGOs. General Secretary of GGF, KK Gandotra presented welcome speech and Ghulam Mohd Khan GGF Ladakh Youth coordinator presented vote of thanks. GGF office bearers, prominent citizens, various NGOs, and students including V L Chadgal, Rakesh K Gupta, Mulkh Raj Bhumagi, S Jaswinder Singh, R K Jandial, Farooq Mughal, Vikram Gujral, Dr Rajnish Sharma, Dr Tilak Raj Sharma, Mohni Verma, Sonam Wanchu, Sahil Khajuria & Shah Razha graced the occasion. |
