Pilgrim tourism in JK flourishes despite odds | | | Shiv Dev Thakur Early Times Report
KATRA, July 11: The tourism in Jammu and Kashmir is seen recovering as the seasonal Amarnath Yatra is at peak. After fighting Swine flu and the devastation caused by last year's floods the bad phase in Jammu and Kashmir has passed away. This stands proved by the fact that incessant rains, flash floods in both the regions have not deterred the Amarnath pilgrims from undertaking the yatra. Similarly the Shri Mata Vaishnodevi pilgrimage is also going on well. According the Statistics provided by Shri Mata Shrine Board Katra, the number of Yatries who had darshan last year in the month of july is showing a uphill trend and is around number of yatries who had darshan in the month of June 2014 was 11, 17,934 which is quite lesser than the number of yatries had darshan in the month of June this year which is 11,25,734. Not only the flash flood, cease fire violation and unprovoked firing by Pakistan last year become the cause of reduction followed by the emergence of Swine Flu infections as well as the incessant rains acted as fuel to the fire. A hotelier said that soon after the over of the bad phase, the number of tourists visiting the state of Jammu and Kashmir is now recovering at normal stage after the passing over of a bad phase and the economic condition of the state is also expected to get its heights as the tourism is the biggest source of Income for the state of Jammu and Kashmir. |
