Jammu , July 11: A fresh batch of 2,556 pilgrims today left for the Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine from Bhagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas base camp here.
"A batch of 2,556 pilgrims, comprising 1,888 male, 492 female, 26 children, 143 sadhus and seven sadhvis left for the cave shrine in a fleet of 70 vehicles," a police spokesperson here said.
He said that the vehicles included 53 State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) buses and 17 Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs).
The first bus left at 0457 hrs while the last bus left at 0520 hrs amid tight security arrangements. The yatra is going on smoothly and was not stopped on the highway. |
